CRITICISM FOR DEBATE

THE GOOD CONVERSATION:

Can we talk about artistic quality concepts in new ways?

Can we meet the performing artist’s work more openly with curiosity, wonder and inquisitiveness? Instead of killing it with stars, can we think about the work, reflect on it together with its creator and thus give it a new life?

Over two evenings in September and November, The Experimental Station and Independent Performing Artists want to create a different debate format where we rise above concepts such as success or failure to instead talk about the expression and development of the performing arts.

With the artistic conversation on November 29th “Criticism in the public space”, we invite author and playwright Michael Svennevig to a joint conversation about writing with an investigative approach to the work and meeting the performing artist’s work as curiously and openly as possible and letting the work escape definition.
We hope that with “the good conversation” we can create a dialog about what performing arts is and does and can become, with artistic breakthroughs, challenging aesthetics and genre complexity.
